Multiple Outline on gimp Empty
PostSubject: Multiple Outline on gimp   Multiple Outline on gimp EmptyTue Aug 31, 2010 7:39 pm

Hi guys, this is a guide on how to make multiple outline with GIMP 2.6.

Step 1:: Open up gimp, File>New> Advanced Options> Fill with>Transparency

Step 2:: Select your font, color, and decide what you want to type in.

Step 3:: Right click on your text layer, and click "Alpha to selection"
Note: if the part where you see all your layers does not show up, then go to windows>recently closed docks> Layers, channels, paths, undo....

Step 4::Click on layer>New layer and make sure it's set to transparency. Then, put the new layer under your text layer. (Post if you don't know how to do that)

Step 5:: (be sure to be on the new layer) click select> Grow

Step 6:: After clicking on grow, write the number of how big you want your outline to be.

Step 7:: Select your color and then press CTRL+, so your outline can be filled with color.

Step 8::click on layer>new layer> transparency and put it under the previous layer you made. Now, do the same things you did starting from Step 5, and keep doing it if you want more outlines. Note: if you want one of your outlines to be a gradient, go to the layer you want to be a gradient, press alpha to selection on it, click on the blend tool, and click on one side, drag it to the end of the layer, and then let go of it :]

Step 9:: (optional) When you're done, go to the newest layer you made, then click on filters> light and shadow> drop shadow and your image will have a shadow :]

Step 10:: when you finish, select the crop tool, and place a square around your picture, and then click inside of it to crop.

Remember: save as a gif for the transparency to work.

sorry for no pictures, i didn't have time. And if something looks weird, it's because i copied and pasted this guide from BI(I made this guide there)

Thanks for reading!
